Origin
Sheila on 7 is a popular boy band from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The band was born on 6th May 1996, when four of the members met. They all had friends in common, named Sheila, hence the band name Sheila. And, the number 7 comes from seven notes Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si.
Genre
When they first started, their main musical style was closer to pop, which later on, changed closer to pop rock. Their music was popular among teenagers and young adults at that time.
Controversy
The only controversy this band has is related to one of their songs titled Sephia. The song was created based on personal experience of one of the member, Eross (guitarist).
The song Sephia told a story about a man wanting to end his affair with a woman. This was not well accepted by the fans and public at that time, but the album itself was sold for more than a million copies.
